How to Practice Ease
Is it ironic that you’re reading a book about how to relax? While your goal is to feel ease, the signal that you’re moving towards ease is relief. When you feel relief, you know you’re shifting towards what you want. Since you know what relief feels like, here is a list of possible things that could bring you more ease right now. Feel free to add to them.
Sit in the sun. The sun is like well-being incarnate.
Watch your favorite show. No matter what else is happening, a show can transport you to your happy place.
Play an instrument. Sometimes there’s nothing easier than expressing yourself.
Play with a cat. Cats are like well-being incarnate.
Go for a bike ride on a sunny day. Cruising on a bike is like a metaphor for a life well lived.
Stretch to your favorite music. Your body knows what it needs and sometimes what it needs is music.
Listen to your favorite music while doing whatever you want. Music creates the soundtrack to your reality.
Dance around. How good does it feel to just move sometimes?
Hang out with your favorite person. How good does it feel to be with that person who you just love being around? You know, the one where you can relax and be yourself?
Read a book you really enjoy. Books open up your imagination and let you feel a childlike sense of wonder.
Draw or doodle. Sometimes, words don’t do justice to what you’re feeling.
Do crossword puzzles. Being engaged often puts your mind at ease.
